If you are planning to perform Umrah from India in 2026, this guide covers everything you need — the exact documents required, the complete Nusuk application process, current visa fees in INR, processing times, and the most common reasons Indian pilgrims face rejection.
The rules changed significantly in 2026. Read this guide in full before beginning your preparations so your journey to the Haramain is smooth, well-organised, and — insha'Allah — accepted.
Key Rule Changes for Indian Pilgrims in 2026
All hotel bookings, transport, and Umrah permits must be booked and verified through the official Saudi Nusuk system before your visa can be issued.
From 2026, Indian pilgrims cannot apply without a pre-linked BRN from Nusuk. Your hotel and transport must be confirmed first to generate this number.
Your visa is valid for entry within 30 days of issuance only (previously 90 days). Once inside Saudi Arabia, you may stay for up to 90 days within the season.
No physical documents need to be submitted. Clear scanned copies are accepted throughout.
Women aged 18–45 without a Mahram must carry an NOC and travel in a recognized group. Women aged 45 and above may travel in a recognized group without an NOC. Always confirm with your agent.
Documents Required for Umrah Visa from India (2026 Checklist)
Every item below is required. Missing even one will delay or reject your application.
- Valid Indian Passport — Minimum 6 months validity from your intended date of entry into Saudi Arabia. No torn or damaged pages.
- Recent Passport-Size Photograph — Plain white background, taken within last 3 months, full face visible, no glasses. Must meet Saudi photo specifications.
- Filled Umrah Visa Application Form — Completed on Nusuk by your authorized Indian travel agent.
- Confirmed Round-Trip Flight Tickets — Entry date must fall within 30 days of visa issuance.
- Pre-Booked Hotel Accommodation (Nusuk Verified) — In Makkah, Madinah, or both. Hotel must be confirmed on Nusuk with check-in and check-out dates. A standard hotel email is not sufficient.
- Pre-Booked Ground Transport (Nusuk Compliant) — Airport transfer and intercity transport logged in Nusuk.
- BRN — Booking Reference Number — Generated on Nusuk once hotel and transport are confirmed.
- Meningococcal ACWY Vaccination Certificate — Mandatory for all pilgrims aged 1+. Must be administered at least 10 days before arrival.
- Travel Insurance — Covering medical emergencies, hospitalization, and repatriation.
- NOC Letter (Women Without Mahram — if applicable) — Women aged 18–45 travelling without a Mahram must carry an NOC and travel in a recognized group.
Step-by-Step: How to Apply for Your Umrah Visa
Follow these steps in order. Each step prepares you for the next.
Step 1 — Get Your Meningitis Vaccination First
Visit a government-approved vaccination centre and get the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine. It must be administered at least 10 days before your arrival in Saudi Arabia. Start here before booking anything else.
Step 2 — Choose an Authorized Umrah Travel Agent
In India, all Umrah visa applications must go through an agent authorized by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Confirm their authorization credentials before handing over any documents or money.
Step 3 — Book Your Hotel Through Your Agent (Nusuk Verified)
Your agent must book your hotel in Makkah and/or Madinah and confirm it on the Nusuk platform. A standard hotel email confirmation is not valid for visa purposes in 2026.
Step 4 — Book Your Return Flights
Purchase confirmed round-trip tickets to Jeddah (JED) or Madinah (MED). Entry date must fall within 30 days of visa issuance. Airlines from India include Saudia, Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express.
Step 5 — Book Ground Transport (Nusuk Compliant)
Your agent arranges airport transfers and intercity travel through a Nusuk-compliant provider. This must also be logged in Nusuk to generate your BRN.
Step 6 — Confirm Your BRN (Booking Reference Number)
Once hotel and transport are confirmed on Nusuk, the system generates your BRN. This is linked directly to your visa application and is mandatory for all Indian pilgrims from 2026.
Step 7 — Submit All Documents to Your Agent
Submit clear scans of your passport, photograph, vaccination certificate, flight tickets, Nusuk hotel booking reference, travel insurance and NOC letter if applicable.
Step 8 — Pay the Visa Fee
Pay the total fee covering Saudi government charge, mandatory insurance, Nusuk processing, agent service fee and VAT. Always request an itemized receipt.
Step 9 — Await Visa Processing
Standard processing takes 24 to 72 hours after all documents and payment are confirmed. During peak Ramadan season it may take 5–10 working days.
Step 10 — Download Your Visa and Install the Nusuk App
Download your visa PDF immediately. Print two copies and keep digital backups. Install the official Nusuk app — you will use it after arrival to book your Tawaf slot and Rawdah visit.
Step 11 — Travel to Saudi Arabia
At Jeddah or Madinah airport, immigration will scan the QR code on your visa. Keep both printed copies and the digital copy accessible.
Umrah Visa Fee from India — Full Breakdown 2026
These costs cover the visa only. Flights, hotel and transport are separate. Multiple-entry visas are priced higher (₹13,000–₹15,000) and allow more than one visit within the season.
Umrah Visa Processing Time — 2026
- Standard Processing: 24–72 hours after all documents submitted and payment cleared
- Peak Ramadan Season: 5–10 working days — apply at least 3–4 weeks in advance
- Season 1448 AH (June–July 2026): Currently 48–72 hours as season just opened
- Recommendation: Always give yourself a minimum of 3–4 weeks before your travel date
Common Mistakes That Cause Visa Rejection
Around 4–6% of Umrah applications from India face rejection. Almost all are preventable.
1. Wrong Photograph — The Single Biggest Cause
Photo errors cause nearly half of all rejections. White background, taken within 3 months, full face without glasses. Always use a professional studio familiar with Saudi visa photo specifications.
2. Hotel Not Verified on Nusuk
A standard hotel booking confirmation is not accepted. The hotel must be logged and confirmed inside the Nusuk system.
3. Passport Validity Under 6 Months
Must have at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Saudi Arabia — not just from today.
4. Name or Personal Details Mismatch
Even one letter difference across passport, flight ticket, hotel booking and vaccination certificate can cause rejection. Check everything matches exactly.
5. Missing or Expired Vaccination Certificate
Must be current, from an approved centre, administered at least 10 days before arrival.
6. Applying Without a BRN
Applying before hotel and transport are Nusuk-confirmed and BRN generated results in immediate rejection.
7. Missing NOC for Women Without Mahram
Women aged 18–45 without a Mahram must have a valid NOC and travel in a recognized group.
8. Applying Too Close to Travel Date
Give yourself minimum 3–4 weeks so if a rejection occurs, you have time to fix and reapply.
