Separate nationality from residence

Passport nationality is the country of your passport. Country of residence is where you currently live; a residence permit does not change your nationality. Provide these separately, together with the destination, intended purpose, travel date and number of applicants. Eligibility depends on your individual circumstances and the applicable official route.

Ask for a route-specific checklist

Required documents vary by destination, purpose, nationality and residence status. The office should explain the applicable checklist before collecting unnecessary files. Upload requested identity documents only through your private account tools. Do not publish document numbers or send payment-card details in comments.

Clarify fees and processing

Request the application or authority fee, assistance fee, any other charges, transaction currency and refund conditions in writing. Ask what work the service covers and whether any amount is refundable if an application is withdrawn or refused. Processing estimates are not guaranteed decision dates.

Understand the limits of assistance

The issuing authority decides the application. Payment, document review or an enquiry does not guarantee approval, entry or permission to undertake a particular activity. Hotel, ticket and permit requirements must be checked for the specific route. Hajj arrangements require their applicable authorised process.

Review the issued document

Check names, document number, validity, entries and permitted stay against the official issue. Raise a discrepancy before travelling. Keep the current itinerary and check official requirements again before departure; an older guide may not reflect a later rule change.
